How long is a therapy session?
A session is 50 minutes for individual and couples work.
How often are the sessions?
It is usual for sessions to be weekly.
What if I can't make a session?
If you are going to be unable to attend I ask that you let me know a week in advance. Where possible I will offer an alternative appointment.
For cancellations 48 hours notice is required otherwise the full fee for the session will be charged.
Payment should be made for missed sessions or late cancellations before the next appointment.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on the type of the work to be done, we are all different as are the issues people seek to change through therapy.

- Short-term therapy of 4-8 sessions can be helpful when both the issue and wanted outcome are clearly identifiable.
- Medium-term therapy of 8-16 sessions can be helpful were the issue is unclear or where a number of issues are impacting on each other.
- Longer-term therapy may be agreed to where the client has successfully addressed the presenting issues and now wishes to work on
It can be useful to set review periods where we reflect on the progress made and identify future treatment direction.
When will my therapy end?
Together we will identify if the changes you wanted have been achieved.
I ask for two sessions notice of closure in order to work on our ending in the therapy.
Is my therapy confidential?
Yes, I consider all information shared with me as confidential.
The exceptions to this would be if the information related to child protection issues, terrorist acts or criminal activity.
If I were to consider maintaining confidentiality would result in harm to you or someone else my course of action would be based on what I considered to be in the best interests of those involved.
If I make any written notes these will be available to you and kept according to professional guidelines.
Any information I hold about you in electronic format such as emails, sms or telephone numbers, is held in accordance with the Data Protection Act. ICO reg no. ZA219439

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP)
member of the International Transactional Analysis Association (ITAA)
member of the European Mentoring and Coaching Council UK (EMCC)
member of the European Society of Trauma and Dissociation (ESTD)
How do you maintain your competency?
I fully comply with the requirements and guidelines of the professional organisations that I belong to. To achieve this I have continuing professional development through training, regular professional and peer supervision, use therapy myself and attend workshops and conferences.
Do you hold a current Disclosure & Barring Service Certificate?
Yes, I hold an Enhanced DBS Certificate.
What are your fees?
I charge £50 per session for individual and couple therapy.
I have a limited number of concessionary rates which are dependent on circumstances.
The fee for consultancy or group therapy is based on the nature of the work and is negotiated prior to commencement.
How can I make payment?
I accept payment by cash, card, cheque, PayPal or bacs.
Payment for the first session is requested in advance, for subsequent sessions payment may be made at commencement of the appointment.
For online sessions payment by PayPal is required before the appointment can be confirmed.
